French is one of the world’s most spoken languages and is particularly widespread in Africa, where there is a strong demand for gender-related information. The new portal allows users to exchange ideas, research and data in promoting gender equality and the rights of women and girls around the world. Users can edit and comment, and follow Wikigender on Facebook. Already there are more than 1 500 articles posted on the English language portal, and the addition of French will further this collaborative and interactive approach to informing better policies on gender.
