OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría has congratulated Barack Obama on his re-election as US president. Mr Gurría said the OECD was proud to have worked with President Obama and his team over the past four years, both on the home front and in international fora such as the G8 and G20 (our photo).
In a letter to President Obama, Mr Gurría said Americans had shown their confidence in his leadership in his first four years at the White House.
He praised President Obama for taking control when the economy was on the brink of collapse, and for restoring the path towards stability and job creation. He added that President Obama has made important progress on health care, education and the advancement of minority rights.
“The OECD stands ready to continue supporting you and your ambitious agenda for reform and change,” Mr Gurría said.
